Article 1: U.S. and Mexico Meet on Border Issues

This Articles talks about how we plan to join Mexico and share more Intelligence and take it to another level against Mexican Drug Cartels. The Justice Department is planning to bring together federal and state prosecutors in financial fraud and whit collar crimes. They also talk about ways the two countries can better block the flow of weapons and money coming down south from the U.S. and drugs that are getting smuggled into the U.S. from Mexico.

Article 2 : Arizona Border Control Initiative

This article discusses the new program created by the Department of Homeland Security specifically for the state of Arizona. This is a landmark program for the department and supports its primary goal of stopping and preventing any organization of terrorists to enter the United States via our border with Mexico. Unmaned Aerial Vehicles (UVAS) will be the primary protection of the border. They will patrol the skies making sure there is no unusual activity occurring. There will also be additional aircraft and helicopters for support.

Article 3 : Homeland Security’s virtual Border fence end up, well, nonexistent

This article talks about how we need better and more technology on the borders, and that the homeland security can’t be handled in one location with U.S and Mexico. The plan should be to replicate along the Mexican border like cameras and better communication. As well as modern technology such as radars, sensors and traditional fencing.

The Department of Homeland Security was created in response to the September 11th attacks. President George W. Bush created it to coordinate “homeland security” efforts. The first secretary for the department was former Pennsylvania Govenor Tom Ridge. Shortly after the institution of the department, they created an easy to understand advisory system. It describes the risk of a terrorist attack occurring the United States. It has five levels and ranges from a low risk of attack to a severe risk of attack.
